The East of Scotland local authorities have participated in numerous Transnational Cooperation projects (formerly known as INTERREG) where exchange of best-practice is often a key feature of the projects. Our members have developed strong partnerships and acquired good reputations as partners through this work.
Under the 2007-2013 programmes a number of local authorities from the East of Scotland are taking part in projects working on the themes of developing low energy buildings, screen locations for films, and motorways of the sea, to name but a few. During the 2000-2006 programmes our members worked with 154 regions through transnational cooperation projects. Successful projects covered a multitude of areas including the implementation of the Water Framework Directive, maritime heritage, waterfront regeneration, coastal path and fisheries networks, Geographical Information Systems and transport.
